What is chunky yarn amigurumi?

Any amigurumi (stuffed toy) pattern made using bulky (5 weight), super bulky (6 weight), or higher yarn instead of the typical worsted weight yarn.

Do I need to change my hook size?

Yes, you should typically go down 1-2 hook sizes from the yarn label recommendation to ensure the stitches are tight enough that the stuffing wont’ show through.

What is the best hook size for Parfait Chunky?

For amigurumi, I recommend a 5.0mm (H) crochet hook with Parfait Chunky

  1. Hello
    Some great crochet ideas here!
I’d like to make the elephant or rhino in plush yarn. How much yarn would I need please, in m?
    Thanks

    1. Thank you!

The yardage info for each is listed in their respective patterns. Since plush yarn varies so much, it’s nearly impossible to provide yardage to such a wide variety. However, in my experience, the required yardage is usually about 20-30% or so more than the original yardage in worsted weight. I hope that helps!
