Strawberry Lemonade Mini Stevie – Free Pattern Modification

I’ve seen so many talented crocheters making various fruit versions, including strawberry dino crochet projects, with my Tanner the Triceratops pattern. I knew I had to get in on the trend, and wanted to create a strawberry dinosaur crochet pattern using one of my favorite dinosaurs, Mini Stevie the Stygimoloch.
In this post you’ll find the modification details to transform my Mini Stevie pattern into the strawberry lemonade dinosaur of your dreams!

I would classify this pattern as “advanced beginner”. It would be helpful to have had some experience with amigurumi before creating this project.

Mini Stevie the Stygimoloch – Strawberry Lemonade

Pattern Specifics
Measurements: Approximately 8.5” tall (sitting) or 12” tall (standing)
Gauge: Not necessary for this pattern; see notes
Hook Size: 5.0mm (H) crochet hook
Other Tools: tapestry needle, stitch markers, scissors
Yarn Weight: Super Bulky (6)
Yarn Used: Premier Yarns Parfait Chunky
Yardage: color A (pink lemonade): 83 yds, color B (hibiscus): 8 yds, color C (yellow): 48 yds, color D (white): 4 yds, color E (lagoon): 6 yds
Other Materials: poly-fil stuffing, 12mm safety eyes
Abbreviations
st = stitch
sl st = slip stitch
SC = single crochet
SC2tog = single crochet 2 stitches together (invisible decrease is recommended)
ch = chain
Special Stitches
SC2tog (using invisible decrease method): Insert hook into front loop of the first stitch. Insert hook into front loop of second stitch. Yarn over. Draw through the first two loops on hook. Yarn over. Draw through both loops on hook.
Notes
- Checking your gauge is not required for this pattern. Use a hook that is smaller than the size recommended for your yarn weight. This will ensure that your stuffing will not show through the stitches.
- All pieces are worked in the round. Use a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of each round.
- Body, head, legs, arms, tail, and strawberries require stuffing. Stuff as you work it to ensure each piece is completely filled.

Pattern
Please review the above notes section for required materials, as they differ from the original pattern.
Using the Mini Stevie the Stygimoloch pattern, follow Body, Head, Skull Bone, and Tail patterns as written, substituting color A to pink lemonade, color B to hibiscus, and color C to yellow. Substitute recommended size safety eyes to 12mm safety eyes.
Using the Mini Stevie the Stygimoloch pattern, follow Arms and Legs as written, substituting color B to yellow, and color A to pink lemonade.
Strawberries (make 5)
Using color hibiscus:
R1: Begin with 4 SC in a magic ring. (4 sts)
R2: 1 SC in each st around. (4 sts)
R3: *2 SC in next st, 1 SC in next st. Repeat from * around. (6 sts)
R4: *2 SC in next st, 1 SC in next st. Repeat from * around. (9 sts)
R5: *SC2tog, 1 SC in next st. Repeat from * around. (6 sts)
Using color lagoon:
R6: Sl st to next st, * ch 2, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sl st to next st. Repeat from * around.
Cut yarn, leaving long strand for sewing. Fasten off.
Assembly & Finishing
Using white yarn, embroider seeds on the strawberries using small lines.

Using white yarn, embroider a lemon slice shape starting from the middle of the MR and making a star shape with 6 points, and then outlining the star to create a circle.

Using the Mini Stevie the Stygimoloch pattern, follow Assembly instructions as written for all but the front horns and crown horns
Attach one strawberry just below the tip of the skull bone, centered on R7.
Using color pink lemonade, embroider 2 nostrils on head, on either side of the front strawberry.
Attach four strawberries around the back of the skull bone.

Tips & Tricks
- While working the continuous rounds of your strawberry dino crochet project, use a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of each round.
- Use pins to hold your strawberry dinosaur crochet pattern pieces in place.
- Use a bit of extra stuffing in the neck area to prevent amigurumi head wobble.
