Abbreviations

sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
SC = single crochet
SC2tog = single crochet 2 stitches together (invisible decrease is recommended)
Special Stitches
SC2tog (using invisible decrease method): Insert hook into front loop of the first stitch. Insert hook into front loop of second stitch. Yarn over. Draw through the first two loops on hook. Yarn over. Draw through both loops on hook.
Notes
- Checking your gauge is not required for this pattern. Use a hook that is smaller than the size recommended for your yarn weight. This will ensure that your stuffing will not show through the stitches.
- All pieces are worked in the round. Use a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of each round.
- Invisible decreases are recommended. Please see “Special Stitches”.
- Safety eyes and noses pose a choking risk for babies; therefore, if making this toy for a baby, I recommend using yarn, felt, or embroidered details.
- Strawberry requires stuffing. Stuff as you work to ensure the piece is completely filled. Do not add stuffing to the stem.

Assembly & Finishing
Center the stem on the top of the strawberry, over the final round of the strawberry piece. Attach the stem by sewing the stem to the strawberry around R6 of the stem, leaving the leaves made in R7 of the stem to remain unattached.

Using black yarn, embroider a smile that is 4 sts wide and 2 rounds high, over R8-9.

Using black yarn, embroider eyebrows beginning 2 rounds above the eye on the inside, and crossing over 4 sts to the outside of the eye and down 1 round.

Using white yarn, embroider seeds over a 2 stitch size, sporadically around the strawberry.

Tips & Tricks for Amigurumi Success
Because I designed this beginner strawberry amigurumi as one of the projects in my Amigurumi for Beginners course, I want to share a few technical tips to help you get the best finished project.
- Work in a Continuous Spiral: This pattern is worked in a continuous round without joining. I highly recommend using a stitch marker to keep track of your rounds; it’s the best way to ensure that your strawberry amigurumi shaping stays on track.
- The Invisible Decrease: To keep your fruit smooth and prevent gaps where stuffing might show, use the invisible decrease method. This is a game-changer for making your SC2tog decrease stitches virtually disappear!
- Master the Basics First: If you are brand new to crochet, you can learn the basic stitches used in this free strawberry crochet pattern through my detailed tutorials.
This crochet strawberry pattern is just the beginning! If you want to build a solid foundation with amigurumi, check out my completely free course, where I walk you through everything from choosing your materials to finishing your first plushies.

How to Customize Your Strawberry
- Make it a Plushie: For a large, squishy strawberry, swap your worsted weight yarn for a chenille or plush yarn like Parfait Chunky. When using a bulkier yarn, remember to use a hook size that is appropriate for your yarn choice to keep your stitches tight. You can read more on choosing your hook size for amigurumi in my tutorial.
- Vary the Faces: You can create different personalities by changing the face details. Try embroidering sleepy eyes or a different mouth shape to make your crochet strawberry unique.
- Make it a Keychain: If you want to use a strawberry for a cute crochet keychain, add a keyring to the top of the stem for the perfect accessory.
