I’ve been wanting to design a Parasaurolophus dinosaur amigurumi for a while now! This dinosaur is my favorites, and this Parasaurolophus crochet pattern fits in so well with my growing dino amigurumi pattern collection.
I made this Parasaurolophus dinosaur using WeCrochet’s Brava Worsted yarn and I love how it turned out with the pink and peach colors. This Parasaurolophus dinosaur plush would make a great give for any dinosaur lover!

Special Stitches
SC2tog (using invisible decrease method): Insert hook into front loop of the first stitch. Insert hook into front loop of second stitch. Yarn over. Draw through the first two loops on hook. Yarn over. Draw through both loops on hook.
Notes
- Checking your gauge is not required for this pattern. Use a hook that is smaller than the size recommended for your yarn weight. This will ensure that your stuffing will not show through the stitches.
- All pieces are worked in the round. Use a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of each round.
- Invisible decreases are recommended. Please see “Special Stitches”.
- Safety eyes and noses pose a choking risk for babies; therefore, if making this toy for a baby, I recommend using yarn, felt, or embroidered details.
- Body, head, crest, legs, arms, and tail require stuffing. Stuff as you work it to ensure each piece is completely filled.
- See tutorial photos.

Assembly & Finishing
See tutorial photos.
Align the final row of the crest to R6-7 of the head, where the color change starts. Be sure that the HDC sts in R20 of the crest are facing up when attaching. Secure the flat piece of the crest to the head. Secure the edge of the stuffed piece to the head to prevent it from folding over.
Attach head to body so that the nose is facing straight out; attaching body to approximately R15-20 of the bottom of the head.
Attach legs between R7-8 of body, with 3 sts showing between.
Using color C (shown as white) embroider 3 nails on each leg, over R5-7, leaving about 2 sts between each nail.
Attach arms over R19-26 on each side of the body. At the top of the arms, leave approximately 12 sts between each arm across the front of the body. At the bottom of the arms, leave approximately 18 sts between each arm across the front of the body.
Using color C (shown as white) embroider 3 nails on each arm, over R4-5, leaving about 2 sts between each nail.
Attach tail over R6-12, on the back of the body.

Tips & Tricks
- Hold your pieces in place with pins so they don’t move around while sewing them.
- Use a stitch marker to keep track of your rows when working in continuous rounds.
- Check out my list of amigurumi tips for more!
Alterations
- To make a jumbo sized Parasaurolophus, use a size 6 yarn (such as Parfait Chunky), and a hook that suits your chosen yarn (I use a 5mm with Parfait Chunky), and otherwise follow the pattern as written.
- Use a multicolored yarn for the accent color to create interesting color combinations.

I’m working on the head for this pattern and the stitch counts are really off. I counted and recounted the stitches for row 15 and the numbers do not add up. Is there anyway you can help me with this? It says “*2 SC in next st, 1 SC in each of the next 3 sts. Repeat from * an additional 5 times. 1 SC in each of the next 24 sts around. (54 sts)” If you count those that would make 49 sts and it is way off. Thank you!
Hi! You are doing the sequence and then repeating it 5 times, so you are doing that sequence a total of 6 times. Hope that helps!
