Let’s face it: sometimes, the joy of gathering crochet supplies can overshadow the actual crafting process. To bridge that gap, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite budget-friendly crochet tools and materials from Walmart. Here are some of my favorite cheap crochet yarn and supplies!

crochet Yarn
Mainstays Acrylic Yarn
Mainstays acrylic yarn is such a good basic yarn with a variety of color options to choose from. The best part? It is a good quality yarn that is budget friendly!
You can find solid colors, anti-pill, sparkle options, and even variegated colors!
Mainstays Chunky Yarn
Mainstays has a variety of chunky and chenille yarns to choose from. They are so soft and are great for market prep projects!
Check out the chenille chunky (super bulky), cozy chenille (similar to Bernat Blanket), and their velvety yarn (similar to Bernat Velvet)!
Your Favorite Brands
You can even find a lot of your favorite yarn brands, and often they are at a lower price than the big box craft stores!
Walmart has yarns from Lion Brand, Red Heart, Bernat Yarns, and more!
crochet Hooks
Boye Hooks
You’ll find a full assortment of your favorite Boye crochet hooks at a great price!
You can find this full set of aluminum Boye hooks, these really cute glitter Boye hooks, and so much more!
Lion Brand Hooks
Walmart also usually has a nice collection of hooks from Lion Brand Yarn!
I especially like these bamboo crochet hooks.
Crochet Kits
Woobles
These Woobles crochet kits are so popular for beginner crocheters. I was surprised to see them at Walmart!
These make great Christmas gifts for anyone who wants to learn to crochet.
Red Heart Kits
I was pleasantly surprised to see these cute amigurumi kits from Red Heart as well! I didn’t know about these.
My local Walmart had quite a selection of these kits to choose from.

I actually didn’t know that WalMart had such a large selection of yarn and hooks. Especially the hooks! I bet when I have to give up my house my kids will find hundreds of crochet hooks. They disagree before my eyes.
They’re so convenient to get too! I order my groceries from Walmart online, and can easily throw in a skein of yarn that I need, and get it with my grocery order! Haha.
